Flashy vs. Simple Websites

When you think of a great website, do you think flashy and cutting edge or do you think classic, simple and functional? Most brands thing that they are gaining a competitive edge when they go for that flashy website that grabs a user’s attention. But is this really the best tactic? Simple websites are trending for a reason. When it comes to your website, you just need it to work and be easy for customers to convert. That’s what they are there for, conversions. A simple site will always load faster than a complex site. Faster load times mean higher customer satisfaction, meaning higher ranking. In the end, all you want to do is give the user a great experience. If you don’t they will go to your competitor.

We recently created a website for a contracting company that can be seen by visiting www.millercontracting.org. As you can see, this website is simple and effective. The home page tells you about the company and shows you a picture of a house they are currently building. Across the top you have tabs that you can easily navigate through. There are separate tabs for residential projects and commercial projects. A prospective customer can come to the site and look at what Miller Contracting has to offer, then contact them if they want to learn more. It’s simple and leads to conversions. That’s all you need. If you get too “cute”, you’re just going to drive customers away. It’s just how it works.
